FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Is there a handout to share RYLA with students or our club's board?
Yes, you can use the RYLA 2026 Flier: 

When is the due date for the RYLA candidates to turn in their application? 
Applications open January 1st. Applications. There is NOT a hard due date for applications. However, we suggest students have their applications entered by April 1st to give enough time for clubs to review the applications for students to be notified of acceptance by May 1st. 

When do we notify the RYLA Registrar of our chosen campers?
If possible, please notify the RYLA Registrar by April 15th.

When will RYLA campers who have been selected be notified?
Initially, campers will be notified by May 1st. After this point, if there are still spaces available, campers will be notified on a rolling basis as applications come in and are approved by supporting Rotary Clubs.

Does my club need to notify accepted RYLA applicants?

No. The RYLA Registrar will notify accepted campers. However, it is encouraged for Rotary clubs to reach out to "their" RYLA applicant to express the club's excitement for them.

When will my club be notified of RYLA applicants?
An initial "batch" of applications will be sent out at the end of March. From that poinjt, applications will be sent out every couple of days as the are received.

Does my club need to reach out to the accepted RYLA applicant?
 Club leadership WILL be cc'd, along with the accepted RYLA applicant's parent/guardian, on the acceptance email sent to successful RYLA applicants. When a Rotary club emails/contacts a RYLArian, the Rotary club MUST include the RYLArian's parent/guardian on emails or any other form of contact. 


When is RYLA?
July 31st-August 3rd, 2026.

When should the RYLArians present to the club regarding their experience at RYLA?
August or early September – Students give your Rotary club an update on their RYLA experience.  The sooner after RYLA camp the better.

What is the cost to sponsor a RYLArian?
$550 – cost per sponsored student.

What are my Rotary Club's responsibilities for RYLA? 
  1. Identify someone to serve at the club’s RYLA Representative.
  2. Raise funds to sponsor one or more students.
  3. Encourage students to present their RYLA experience at a club meeting.​

What are my responsibilities as the RYLA chair for my club? 

  • Serve as your club’s official representative to RYLA and the primary person responsible in your club.
  • Promote RYLA within your club and announce to club RYLA applications are being accepted.
  • Lead the club selection process for determining which students your club sponsors for RYLA.
  • Work with other clubs if you have too many or too few applications.
  • Send RYLA application and camp payment to RYLA registrar.  
  • Arrange with the students to make a presentation to your local club within one month of the last day of RYLA camp.
  • Arrange to work with the sponsored students and your Rotary club on a local service project of their student’s choosing.
